Planning Your Trip to Bhutan

How It Works

All international visitors to Bhutan (except Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian nationals) must book through a licensed tour operator. This is not optional — it is government policy. The upside is that your entire trip is organised before you arrive: accommodation, meals, transport, guide, and permits are all included in a single daily package.

What Is Included

  • Three-star accommodation or above (upgrades available)
  • All meals throughout your stay
  • A licensed English-speaking guide for the duration
  • A private vehicle with experienced driver
  • All internal permits, entrance fees, and taxes
  • Camping equipment and pack animals on trekking itineraries
  • Sustainable Development Fee (USD 100 per night)

What Is Not Included

  • International flights to and from Paro
  • Travel insurance (strongly recommended)
  • Tips for guide and driver
  • Personal shopping and bar bills

When to Book

We recommend confirming at least 90 days before travel. Festival dates and peak-season treks sell out quickly — for these, two to three months' lead time is ideal. Visa processing takes a minimum of two weeks after payment is received.

Cancellation

Life happens. More than 30 days out: full refund. 21-30 days: 25% charge. 14-21 days: 30%. 7-14 days: 45%. Under 7 days: 65%. After arrival: non-refundable. We always try to be fair, so talk to us if your circumstances change.
